Social media campaign Diversity Matters is a symbol for more diversity and inclusion.
Students at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol developed a social media campaign to raise awareness of diversity, inclusion and equal opportunities. It is aimed at their fellow students and the university community, and is also intended to encourage reflection in society.
Diversity is an essential part of our society. To draw attention to the importance of diversity, six students in the part-time bachelor's degree program in Sport, Culture & Event Management at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol launched a five-week social media campaign called Diversity Matters.

Under the direction of coach Madeleine Johansson, the project was carried out on behalf of the FH Kufstein Tirol in the series Diversity Matters. The aim was to raise awareness among students and the public community between the end of November and the end of December for the topics of diversity, inclusion and social equality of opportunity. Each week had a specific motto, with a main post and additional stories. From the definition of diversity to the topic of mental health, central aspects of living together were highlighted.
FIVE WEEKS, FIVE TOPICS: EXPLORING DIVERSITY FROM DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES
From the end of November until just after Christmas, a specific topic per week was highlighted on the social media channel of the degree program of the FH Kustein Tirol.

Slide from the second week titled: One Society, Many Identities – The Importance of Ethnic Diversity and the Fight Against Racism.
Here is an overview of this week's topics:
- Week 1: Diversity Matters! – An introduction to diversity and why it is important for an inclusive society.
- Week 2: One Society, Many Identities – The importance of ethnic diversity and the fight against racism.
- Week 3: Understanding Gender Identities – The difference between biological sex and gender, and the importance of LGBTQ+ inclusion.
- Week 4: Generational Diversity and Accessibility – How inclusive cooperation is promoted through cross-generational collaboration and accessibility.
- Week 5: Mental Health and Discrimination – How to deal with prejudices against mental illness and the need for open dialog.
EDUCATION AND EXCHANGE: A CAMPAIGN THAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE
The interactive content, such as story questions and surveys, not only provided valuable information, but also created a space for discussion.
WE HAVE COVERED THE FIVE TOPICS THAT ARE MOST IMPORTANT TO US, BUT IT IS INCREDIBLE HOW MANY OTHER SUBJECT AREAS FALL UNDER DIVERSITY AND HOW MUCH KNOWLEDGE AND INFORMATION THERE STILL IS TO BE COMMUNICATED.

The community was actively encouraged to share their thoughts and experiences in order to raise awareness of the relevance of diversity. Inspirational quotes, emotional posts and moving interviews brought the topics to life.
